How will my mosaic be backed?

Our mosaics come with a choice of two types of backing. The most common form of backing used is fibre mesh with a sheet plastic backing. This allows the flexibility to be able to roll the mosaic with care for handling, delivery and storage, prior to actual installation. This type of backing is used where the mosaic is to be integrated into the wall, or floor space.

The other is a hardboard/MDF backing. This gives the mosaic a rigid support, allowing it to be handled and displayed in the same fashion as a wall picture. In this way, your mosaic can be framed or unframed depending on your choice.

    What about aftercare?

Once installed, we hope your mosaic will fill your home with beauty and last for generations to come. In looking after your mosaic, it will require further coats of protective sealer every 1 to 3 years and longer, depending on the environment and manufacturer’s instructions. Use of specialist natural stone cleaning products is strongly advised. Use of inappropriate chemical detergents may damage and stain the natural stone in your mosaic, which will require specialist professional care to repair. After cleaning your mosaic, use only clean warm water to finally wash down your mosaic. Use a clean cloth to dry away this water.
